EPL Golden Boot Race 2026: Salah, Palmer and Haaland in Three-Way Battle

The 2025-26 Premier League Golden Boot race has delivered drama that even the title battle cannot match. With four matches of the season remaining, Mohamed Salah leads on 22 goals, with Cole Palmer on 21 and Erling Haaland on 20. It is the tightest three-way race for the award since 2018-19, and all three strikers have favourable fixtures in the run-in.

Salah's Renaissance Season

At 34, many expected Mohamed Salah to begin declining. Instead, the Egyptian has produced arguably his finest Premier League campaign. His movement off the ball has evolved — he drops deeper to receive, combines with Trent Alexander-Arnold in triangles on the right, and then makes devastating late runs into the box. Fourteen of his 22 goals have come from inside the six-yard area, a testament to his improved positional instincts.

Liverpool's remaining fixtures include Wolves, West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Brighton — all teams in the bottom half. If Salah maintains his current rate of a goal every 1.3 games, the Golden Boot is his to lose.

Palmer's Emergence

Cole Palmer has confirmed himself as a generational talent this season. The 23-year-old's output for Chelsea has been nothing short of extraordinary — 21 goals from a variety of positions, including five from outside the box and four direct free-kicks. His creative numbers (12 assists) make him the only player in the league with 20+ goals and 10+ assists.

Palmer's main advantage is fixture congestion. Chelsea have no European commitments and their remaining schedule is spread out, giving Palmer fresh legs for every match. His form in April — seven goals in four games — suggests he is timing his run to perfection.

Haaland's Power Finish

Erling Haaland has had a strange season by his standards. A slow start — just six goals by December — had critics writing off his title chances. But the Norwegian has scored 14 goals since January, including two hat-tricks, to roar back into contention. His physical presence remains unmatched, and Man City's improving form means more chances are falling his way.

The final four fixtures will likely decide it. All three players are fit, all three are in form, and all three desperately want the prize. For neutral fans, it does not get much better than this.
