Inaugural Kelvin Kiptum Memorial Race Draws Thousands to Eldoret

The inaugural Kelvin Kiptum Memorial Race took place in Eldoret on Saturday, drawing thousands of participants and spectators to honor the legacy of the late marathon world record holder who tragically passed away in a road accident in February 2024. The event was both a celebration of his extraordinary athletic achievements and a community gathering that reflected his impact on Kenyan running culture.

The elite race attracted a strong field of Kenyan and international distance runners, many of whom trained alongside Kiptum during his meteoric rise. The men's race produced a fast course record on the undulating Eldoret roads, with the winner dedicating his victory to Kiptum's memory and the values of hard work and humility that defined the late champion.
